How Much Does Ceramic Coating Cost in Frisco & DFW?

If you've started shopping for a ceramic coating in Frisco, Plano or anywhere in DFW, you've probably seen prices from $199 to well over $3,000. That's a huge spread. Here's what actually drives the cost, what you should expect to pay, and the red flags that tell you a "deal" is going to cost you more later.

The short answer

For a professional, properly installed ceramic coating in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, most car owners can expect to pay roughly:

Package typeTypical DFW rangeWhat you usually get
Entry-level professional~$700 – $1,200Decon wash, 1-step polish, multi-year coating
Mid-tier / most popular~$1,200 – $2,200Multi-step correction, longer-rated coating, wheels & glass
Flagship / exotic$2,200+Full correction, top-tier multi-layer system, wheels-off, interior

At Slipstream Detailing, our FEYNLAB and Glosstech packages are $650 (1 year), $1,250 (3 years), $1,350 (4 years) and $1,650 (5 years) for a standard sedan, with decontamination and a gloss enhancement polish included. The ranges above are general market estimates. Large trucks, SUVs and vehicles needing heavy correction will be higher.

What drives the price of a ceramic coating?

1. Paint correction (the biggest factor)

The coating itself is a small part of the job. Most of the time and cost is in paint correction: machine polishing the clear coat to remove swirls and scratches before the coating locks the finish in. A brand-new car might only need a light polish; a five-year-old black SUV that's been through automatic washes might need two or three full stages of correction.

This is why two quotes for "ceramic coating" can be wildly different. One includes a full correction and the other just wipes coating over swirled paint.

2. The coating product and durability

Professional coatings are typically rated anywhere from 1 to 5+ years. Longer-rated products typically cost more, often involve multiple layers, and many are only available to certified installers. Slipstream installs certified FEYNLAB and Glosstech coatings in 1-, 3-, 4- and 5-year packages, so we can match the product to your car and budget.

3. Vehicle size and complexity

A Tahoe or F-250 has dramatically more surface area than a Miata. Complex body lines, aero parts and large wheels also add time.

4. What's being coated

Paint only? Or wheels (faces or barrels), calipers, glass, trim, and leather and fabric interior too? Each surface adds protection and cost.

5. Installer skill and environment

Coatings must be applied in a clean, well-lit space and leveled perfectly. Missed "high spots" cure into dark smears that have to be polished off. Experience matters.

Red flags: when a cheap coating gets expensive

  • "$299 ceramic coating, done in 2 hours." That's usually a spray sealant, not a true professional coating, or coating applied over unprepped paint.
  • No mention of paint correction. Coating over swirls makes them permanent until someone polishes the coating off.
  • "Lifetime, never wash again" claims. No coating makes a car maintenance-free.
  • Not certified with the brand being sold. Ask which product they use and whether they're certified for it.
  • Mobile installs in direct sun. Heat and dust can ruin coating application.

Is it worth it in Texas? For most North Texas drivers, yes. UV, heat, bugs, bird droppings, pollen and hard water break down unprotected clear coat fast. A good coating protects your paint, keeps the car looking new and can save hours of washing every month.

How to get an accurate quote

The fastest way is to send your year, make and model, plus a few photos of your paint in direct sunlight. That lets an installer see swirls and defects and recommend the right level of correction. You can request a quote from Slipstream here or text photos to (214) 670-2332.

Frequently asked questions

Is ceramic coating cheaper than PPF?

Usually, yes. A full-body PPF installation generally costs significantly more than a ceramic coating because of the film material and labor. Many owners do PPF on the front end and a coating on the whole car. See our coating vs PPF guide.

Do DIY ceramic coatings work?

Consumer coatings can add some gloss and water beading, but they're generally less durable than professional products, and the results depend heavily on prep, which most DIY jobs skip.

Does ceramic coating increase resale value?

A coating helps preserve the factory paint, and well-kept paint makes a vehicle more attractive to buyers and appraisers.
